Food Reviews The following reviews were edited from GoBeach I've added addresses, phone #'s and links when I found them.
Mario's Bistro in Sandy Ground (just beyond Marigot
)
Highly rated sounds like it is a must for dinner Reservations are a must,
from U.S. Phone 011 590 87 06 36. A
superb dining experience sea scallop, duck dinner salad - with
fried parmesan "croutons" reasonable prices. Get
a water front table if you can for watching the "show" of fish
who are attracted to the lightes water.
L'Alabama in Grand Case
Sounds like another one of the must go to restaurants here. "..excellent.
Service and food were impeccable. staff was
friendly, knowledgeable and extremely polite. We loved this place
and would highly recommend it. Still one of our
favourites food artfully presented and guaranteed to please the palate.
... This is a beautiful restaurant ..Caesar salad
was exceptional. The onion soup also impressive. We would recommend the
red snapper and the mahi-mahi for
fish lovers, but the rack of lamb was out of this world creme brule- It
was the best!.. ..Still the best on the island . We
had an absolutely flawless meal-. The ambience, the attitude, the service,
the food it's all here Do yourself a favour:
"spend the extra dollars for the foie gras appetizer you may never
taste something this amazing ever again."
Merengue Bar B.Q., Cay Bay
Great little bar and restaurant Owned by a guy named Pascanel Ferreras.
He used to be a "infamous" bartender at
Cheri's Cafe's (another often mentioned resturant). Seafood, BBQ,
Ribs,Chicken, creole at very reasonable
prices....Two for one night for drinks. Bands and D.J.'s also.
Welfare Road across from the Lightning Casino (this
might be conveint for T2, one nite at least).

Creole restaurant. Nice atmosphere, excellent food, large main courses
(Creole plate with accras, crabs kingfish and
conch for one, local vegetables with home made hot sauce compliment any
of the meals. Posted daily specials.
Live music every thursday night and you can also always hear salsa, bossa,
merengue. After dinner enjoy a nice
Homemade banana rhum. Dozen kinds of flavoured rum. French
side people eat late.
Like many local restaurants bring your calculator and know your exchange
rate & count your change.
Good mostly nice reviews.
Boat House on Simpson Bay. Mouth watering fresh fish, dinners or lunch. Filet mignon rapped in bacon (awesome).
Ric's Place
Front Street # 69
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Netherlands Antilles
You can look out over Great Bay and
watch the cruise ships if they are in port. It's a great sports bar and
their chicken taco salad and hot crispy
chicken finger sandwiches will give you a burst of energy to finish shopping
the afternoon away."
Don Camillo's

Marigot.
Don't know if I want to go all the way to to Caribbean to eat Italian but
if
you feel like Italian this seems the place. Nice collection of Scilian
pottery on
display and for sale. Intimate atmosphere good food. "fantastico"
gnocchi incredible tiramisu. Dinner for six with wine, coffee
and deserts
cost us $35 each after an extra tip
Willy's Bakery
Bush road 24
Sint Marteen, 54-21526
Right as you drive from Philipsburg to Cole Bay Hill. It is just
passed the salt pond and before the roundabout. This
place makes the very best Almond Cookies (Gevulde Koek) you
will ever eat
The Jerk Bar & Grill
The food and the service is EXCELLENT! Tasty jamaican dishes . Everyday
there is a variety of six to eight Jamaican
dishes to choose from and American breakfast and lunches as well.
The restaurant customer service is A-1. f or a
hearty meal.
Bistrot Caraibes,
Grand Case
"I can't tell you what a wonderful meal we had at Bistro Caribe! My husband
had the snail appetizer and I
had the duck breast with goat cheese. What a start. I then had the nightly
special of Sea Bass with leaks
and my husband had the Red Snapper. We both had the warm chocolate cake
for dessert and coffee. The
total bill was a little over $100.00 even with wine.
Jean Dupont (Marina area) - I never saw this restaurant
mentioned, but we had our best meals here
(went twice). Service fantastic and one of the best red snappers I ever
had. Don't miss the apple dessert.
Total bill for one appetizer, two entrees and one dessert $55.00.
Le Piccolo (Cul de Sac) - Best bang for the buck
we found. Huge creative menu, bargain prices, great
service, and friendly management.
Mark's Place was a pleasant surprise. Only negative
is fact that it is located in a supermarket parking lot.
It was very reasonable and very good. All items were freshly prepared.
The baby back ribs rivalled the best
I've had in the states and the snapper menurie was great. The oven baked
chicken was also good.
